Head Bikes is a Czech Republic-based manufacturer of bicycles, from fat bikes and all-out road racers to casual bikes for all ages. Head is not yet a widely-known manufacturer, but its reputation is unblemished. Bikes are available from dealers throughout eastern and western Europe, and sold directly from the manufacturer's website; the catalogue includes sizing and kit for each model.

The fat bikes are a recent addition to Head's lineup. Kit is excellent across the board, selections made with care to maximize performance without overwhelming the bottom line; regular appearances from SRAM and Shimano dominate the drivetrains, with Tektro and Shimano sharing braking responsibilities. The top-end Randall III is built on a carbon frameset, coming in a full 2 kilograms below the next model down. A plus-sized 27.5" adds suspension and a bit of speed for lighter terrain.

Mountain bikes are heavily oriented toward cross-country, with a solitary enduro model available, nicely equipped and available exclusively in a highly visible neon yellow. Kit never drops below the named Shimano componentry groups, and climbs all the way to XTR, offered on a carbon-framed speedster equipped with the gorgeous RockShox RS-1.

Road bikes are a bit more modest; three racers are available, all carbon-framed, with mid-range groups, good wheels, and house brand components for the cockpit. Weights are surprisingly low, geometry aggressive, and prices reasonable.

The casual bikes are the bread-and-butter of Head. Many models and configurations, all equipped with comfortable seating, reliable gear, and many styles, one sure to appeal to any rider. Recreational bikes, town bikes, adventure-off-the-road bikes, and commuters are available with a choice in packages.

Head is a good manufacturer of bikes that deliver as promised. Check out their bikes at your local shop.
