Odyssey Bike Parts & Accessories
Odyssey BMX is a U.S.-based BMX parts manufacturer. The extensive catalogue includes every component needed to build a bike; just add frame. The company's range is available at bike shops around the world via its extensive network of distributors, including two of the largest in the U.S. Odyssey also sells swag, spare parts, and some discontinued components through an online store.
Founded in 1985, Odyssey's early entries included the Quik Slic cable and the Gyro detangler, both stalwarts of the line. Within a few years the company had developed its focus on freestyling, which informs the collection through the present day. Odyssey parts can be found on many freestyle BMX bikes, spec'ed as original equipment.
The brakes may be the most well-known of Odyssey's components. The venerable Springfield carries on, providing inexpensive, effective braking, alongside its fellows, all available in sets or individual components, with replacement pads and cables. As with the company's other components, brakes can be rebuilt; small parts are readily available.
Wheelsets are optimized for freestyle. Reversible for LHD, freecoaster, threaded for pegs, laced to bombproof rims, all durable 36H. Oversize rims are available. Odyssey no longer makes the infamous Barefoot tire; today's offerings are far more durable, including a number of street tires and the Aitken classic knobby.
Saddles and posts, sprockets, bottom brackets and headsets, stems, bars and forks, all are available in profusion; a notable exception to the company's variety is the Thunderbolt crankset, the only model offered by Odyssey.
Last but not least, the pedals. Sturdy and durable, the grippy pedals are Odyssey's one colorful item, offered in a rainbow of choices. Not the thinnest on the market, nor the most expensive, Odyssey's pedals are long-term companions, surviving where a lesser pedal would succumb.
Odyssey makes a complete range of quality BMX bike components, readily available at bike shops everywhere.
