SRAM eTAP

I recently upgraded by 2012 Cannondale 56 Synapse to this new system. After completing a 450 mile trip across Iowa during RAGBRAI, I can say I am ecstatic with this new electronic BlueTooth system by SRAM. The first day my only issue was the bike shop had not properly installed the front derailer so it was throwing a chain. Another Team Gourmet member had recently installed the same system and after making a 1cm adjustment to the front derailer, the system operated perfectly for 300 more miles. By Thursday, I was concerned about charging both batteries (the event started on Sunday, July 24) and I charged both batteries but I quickly realized I did not need to charge them due to them having at least 70% charges remaining. Charging is simple, the batteries are snapped out of each derailer and snapped into the charger. There is no need to take the whole bike to the charger. This is an excellent engineered and thought out simple system that I expect will consume the bicycle world in the next two years. I had just replaced cables and the front large gear when the shop called and said, "the Etap system had arrived" and I opted to be the first bike this shop converted. It is an excellent system! Responsiveness is very fast and within two days of riding I became automatic in my shifting. There are simple micro adjustments built into the paddles to modify slight movements when needed. Gone are the days of taking the bike in for a tune up every year with this near "perfect" system that precisely places the chain on the appropriate gears. Way to go SRAM! This new technology is simple, significantly cheaper than other electronic systems, easy to recharge, Bluetooth eliminates wires, and it successfully works with my Shimano Ultegra brakes on my Cannonade.
